J-TSOON BURNING PUMPKIN FEST 2024 KPOP in Public Online Dance Competition
What is KPOP in Public?
KPOP in Public is where fans perform choreographed KPOP dances in public spaces like parks, streets, or plazas. These performances mimic the energy of KPOP music videos and live shows, showcasing fans’ talent and passion. Participants often dress like the original KPOP artists to enhance authenticity.Â
The results of the KPOP in Public Online Dance competition will be announced at the festival on Sunday, November 3rd 2024, at Kultuurikatel in Tallinn, Estonia.
1. Video Requirements:
- Recording: Videos must be recorded in one continuous take without any cuts or edits.
- Group Lineup: Dance cover must feature the complete group lineup. (e.g., if covering a BTS song, your video should include 7 dancers representing each member.)
- Upload: Videos must be uploaded to YouTube, and the link provided during submission.
- Video Title Format: “KPOP IN PUBLIC | [Event Name] | [KPOP Group] – [Song Title] | Dance Cover by [Team Name]”.
- Please use J-TSOON: BPF24 or J-TSOON BURNING PUMPKIN FEST 2024 for the Event Name
- Example: KPOP IN PUBLIC | [J-TSOON BPF24] | [EXO] – [Love Shot] | Dance Cover by J-TSOON Team.Â
- Please use J-TSOON: BPF24 or J-TSOON BURNING PUMPKIN FEST 2024 for the Event Name
- Video Description: Include event details, the song title and original group, names of all dancers, performance location, and any special notes or messages.
- Hashtags: Use #JTSOON #BPF2024 #PumpkinFest #Tallinn #KPOP, and any other relevant hashtags.
- Video Quality: Ensure high-resolution video (minimum 1080p) for clear visibility of dance moves.
- Audio Quality: Music should be clear and audible with no background noise. Original KPOP song tracks are recommended.
- Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting throughout the video to keep all performers clearly visible.
- Location: Performances must take place in public spaces such as parks, streets, or plazas.
- Participants must ensure the chosen location is safe and complies with local regulations.
- Participants may re-upload or rename their previous K-pop public videos if they adhere to all rules, and the name should not change. If the name is changed on the day of the event, either the 2nd or 3rd of November, the video will be disqualified from the competition.
1.1 Video Restrictions:Â
- Each group can submit multiple KPOP in Public videos, provided that the lineup differs by at least half or slightly less in each video. If a group submits multiple videos with the same line up, those videos will not be considered for evaluation.
1.2 Costume and Appearance:
- Performers are encouraged to wear outfits resembling those of the original KPOP group, but this is not mandatory.
- Costumes should be appropriate for public settings and adhere to local dress codes and decency laws.
 2. Application and Selection Process:
- To participate in the competition, at least one dancer from the team must be present at the event and eligible for prizes.
- Participants must complete the official registration form available on the j-tsoon.ee website.
- Participants must provide the link to the YouTube video.
- Participants accounts must be public, otherwise, the KPOP in Public Online Dance competition organizers and the judges won’t have access to it.
- Videos uploaded after the deadline 27.09 will not be accepted in the competition.
- Participants will be notified of their selection via the email used for the application.
3. Judging Criteria:
KPOP in Public Online Dance competition will be judged by a set of judges who will evaluate the following criteria:
- Dance Accuracy: Must closely follow the original choreography.
- Synchronization: All members must dance in sync.
- Energy and Expression: Show the same level of energy and expressiveness as the original performance.
- Formation and Spacing: Maintain accurate formation changes and spacing from the original choreography.
- Overall Impression: Evaluate the collective impact and enjoyment factor, considering coordination, precision, choreography adherence, artistic expression, charisma, and costumes.
The number of likes and views that video gains on YouTube will not be taken into consideration when judging.
4. Nominations:
- In the Dance in Public competition, awards will be given to the top 3 placements.Â
- The winner will be announced during the Closing Ceremony of the festival.
5. Organizational Matters Related to Competition:
- At least one of the members from the dance team must attend at least the second day of the event, to enter the KPOP in Public Online Dance Competition fully.Â
- Participants must arrive at the designated registration time, which will be provided in the email after your application is accepted for the check-in. If you fail to check-in on time you will not be eligible to win the prize.
- As organizers, we reserve the right to limit the total number of entries. We are aiming for up to 20 videos in total. In cases where the number of submissions significantly exceeds this limit, we may consider selecting participants. Due to limited applications, we prioritize inclusivity and aim to allow participants of all experience levels to participate, and we will only implement this option as a last resort.
- Festival staff may request an identification document from you in case of any suspicion regarding the participant’s identity. This could be a passport, ID card, driver’s license, or student ID.
- By submitting a video for the KPOP in Public Online Dance competition, participants acknowledge and agree that the J-TSOON KPOP Team has the right to download and showcase the video on the big screen during the event.
5.1 Tickets:
- Participants in the KPOP in Public Online Dance Competition who do not perform in any other competitions at the festival must purchase a ticket at full price.
6. Disqualification and Non-Selection Criteria:
- Failing to comply with all specified rules and guidelines.
- Having incorrect group lineup or not meeting other specified requirements.
- Editing the video or not recording in one continuous take. Poor video resolution (below 1080p), unclear audio, or inadequate lighting. Video title, missing required details in the description, or improper file naming.
- Performing in locations that are not public or violate local regulations. Disruptive behavior or not following rules in dressing rooms and other preparation areas.
- Costumes unsuitable for public settings or violating local dress codes.
- Incomplete or late registration, or private YouTube accounts preventing access.
- Not attending at least the second day of the event.
- Violating public order or local laws during the performance.
- Disrespectful behavior towards organizers, staff, judges, or other participants.
- Not notifying organizers in advance if unable to attend the event.
Note: The organizers reserve the right to make changes to the rules and regulations of the competition to ensure fair judging, maintain order, and ensure the safety of all participants.Â
