General Questions

What is J-TSOON?
J-TSOON is a festival of Asian and youth subculture that typically takes place twice a year in Tallinn, Estonia. In the spring, the main festival called J-TSOON is held, and in the fall, there is a Halloween edition called J-TSOON: BURNING PUMPKIN FEST, abbreviated as J-TSOON: BPF’24.

When is J-TSOON?
The festival usually takes place twice a year – in April in the spring and in the fall. The next festival will be held on November 2-3, 2024.

What is BPF’24 and J-TSOON: BPF’24?
These are abbreviated names for the fall festival. The full name is J-TSOON: BURNING PUMPKIN FEST 2024.

Where is J-TSOON?
J-TSOON will be held at Kultuurikatel, located at Kursi 3, 10415 Tallinn, Estonia. 

What time does J-TSOON start?
The festival officially starts on Saturday at 10:00 (EST) and ends on Sunday at 20:00 (EST) after the ending ceremony. We will be posting a detailed schedule closer to the convention on our website and our social media platforms.

How do I get to J-TSOON?
J-TSOON is taking place at a venue called Kultuurikatel, situated in the heart of Tallinn, just a short walk from the Old Town. The airport is approximately 6.5 kilometers away.

Getting to Kultuurikatel by public transport is convenient, with regular services available. Nearest bus/tram stop: Linnahall (Busses: 2, 3, 8, 66, 73, 96 or Trams: 1, 2, 5) Additional information could be find at https://transport.tallinn.ee/#/ee

Is there parking available?
Not on the territory of Kultuurikatel, however for those arriving by car, parking is available in paid parking lots in close proximity to convention place.

Who can come to the event?
Absolutely everyone is welcome to attend the event! Whether you’re a passionate fan of cosplay or kpop, a curious explorer of an artist’s & crafter’s work, or someone looking to experience the vibrant atmosphere of J-TSOON, we invite individuals of all interests and backgrounds to join us.

Is there an age limit?
There is no age limit at J-TSOON and people of all ages are welcome to attend our event!

Can a disabled take part in J-TSOON?
J-TSOON is designed to be accessible, and we welcome participants with disabilities to take part in the event. The venue, Kultuurikatel, features ramps for easy accessibility, and lifts are available to facilitate movement between different floors. 

Can I bring a pet?
While we love our furry friends, in general, pets are not allowed at J-TSOON. However, we do make an exception for service animals, such as guide dogs or other assistance animals, that provide necessary support to individuals with disabilities. 

Can I take pictures/film videos at J-TSOON?
At J-TSOON, attendees are allowed to take pictures and film videos for personal use. However, it’s important to be respectful of others’ privacy. Additionally, commercial or professional photography/videography may require special permissions, so it’s mandatory to check with the event organizers if you plan to use the content for any commercial purposes.

Do I have to dress up to come to J-TSOON?
No, absolutely not! Some people might dress up in cosplay, but you don’t have to if you don’t feel comfortable. We only ask you to bring yourself and try to have fun at J-TSOON 🙂

Ticket Questions

Where can I buy a ticket?
You can purchase tickets for J-TSOON through two different services: Fienta (https://fienta.ee) and Piletilevi (https://piletilevi.ee). Choose the platform that is most convenient for you and secure your spot at the event! Tickets can also be purchased at the door during the festival.

Are there discounts for kids & students?
Certainly! We offer different ticket prices for various groups, including:

  • Kids aged 7-10
  • School and university students
  • Some of the participants

You can find the specific discounts and prices on our ticket selling partners, Fienta and Piletilevi.

How much does it cost?

Prices until August 14:

  • Full ticket: €24
  • Student, student: €20
  • Child 7-10 years (inclusive): €10
  • Fan ticket: €45 (includes Kai Iden’s concert and gift package)

Prices from August 15 to September 30:

  • Full ticket: €27
  • Student, student: €24
  • Child 7-10 years (inclusive): €10
  • Fan ticket: €50 (includes Kai Iden’s concert and gift package)

Prices from October 1:

  • Full ticket: €30
  • Student, student: €26
  • Child 7-10 years (inclusive): €10
  • Fan ticket: €50 (includes Kai Iden’s concert and gift package)
  • Children up to 6 years old (inclusive) have free entry.

Please do not purchase tickets in advance, as special tickets will be available for those who pass the selection process.

Cosplay Questions

Can I come in cosplay to the event?

Absolutely, we encourage attendees to come in cosplay! It’s a great way to showcase your creativity and share your passion. Get ready to have a fantastic time in your favourite cosplay character!

Is there a place to change into my cosplay?

Yes! We understand the importance of having a dedicated space to change into your cosplay. Closer to the festival date, we’ll mark the designated changing area on our map, ensuring that you have a convenient place to transform into your cosplay character. 

If I cosplay, do I have to take part in a Cosplay Competition?

Certainly not! Participating in the Cosplay Competition is entirely optional. While it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your cosplay skills and creativity on stage, you’re welcome to attend the event in cosplay without entering the competition. 

Are there any special discounts for participants in the Cosplay Competition?

Yes, we offer exclusive discounts for participants in the Cosplay Competition. Upon registration and confirmation of your participation, you’ll receive information on how to avail these discounts when purchasing your event tickets.

Who can take part in a Cosplay Competition?

J-TSOON’s Cosplay Competition is open to everyone, from professional cosplayers to those taking their first steps into the cosplay world. 

For the Cosplay Competition, participants are required to register in advance. You can secure your spot by filling out the registration form available on our website. 

However, if you decide on the spot or just want to have some fun on stage, we’ve got you covered! You can join our cosplay masquerade during the event days, and registration for that will be available on-site.

How can I participate in the Cosplay Short Video Competition at J-Tsoon?

To showcase your creativity on video during our event, you’ll need to register in advance. Keep an eye on our website for the registration form, where you can secure your spot and a chance to shine in the Cosplay Short Video Competition.

How can I join the Cosplay Photography Competition, and do I need to register beforehand?

For participants interested in photography or being a model, registration is required for the Cosplay Photography Competition. Visit our website to find the registration form and secure your spot. This is your chance to immortalize the incredible cosplay moments at J-TSOON!

K-pop Questions

How many times can I perform on stage?

One participant can perform on stage up to two(2) times. Following one of the options below:

  • 1 duo/trio + 1 duo/trio performance (1+1); provided they use different group lineups
  • 1 duo/trio + One Group performance (1+1);
  • Participants not performing in the duo/trio category, can perform in up to 2 groups, provided that the lineup differs by at least half  (1+1)

If a participant chooses not to perform in Solo or Duo/Trio categories, they can participate in the Group category up to two(2) times, but not with the same group; the lineup of the group must be different.

What is a ‘performance/practice video’ in the application form and why do I need to record it?

To join in the competition, everyone needs to send a video of themselves dancing the routine they want to perform. Make sure to record the whole performance from a good angle and, most importantly, it has to be you dancing, not a group or a solo artist. This video is a mandatory requirement for the selection process.

Do I need to record the video in costume?

No, wearing costumes in the application video is not mandatory. You can record the video in any comfortable clothing.

Can I perform in KPOP Solo Competition and in KPOP Dance competition?

You can participate in the KPOP Dance Competition, KPOP in Public and KPOP SOLO competition as many times as stated in the rules of each competition. These are different competitions and will be judged by different sets of judges. Just make sure that your submissions for those competitions align with the rules written specifically for them.

Can I perform in KPOP DEBUT stage and in KPOP Dance competition or KPOP SOLO competition?

No, debut stage is specially designed for those who performs in front of an audience for first time, so if you performed before in a group, duo, trio, or solo, at different events or JTSOON fest, they are not eligible for this competition, and can not apply for the KPOP Dance competition and KPOP SOLO competition.

Can I perform to a non-Korean song?

Yes, you can perform to a non-Korean song if the choreography is created by a Korean artist or choreographer. Additionally, you are welcome to perform any KPOP idol(artist) songs that are not Korean, such as ‘Titanic’ by Jackson Wang or ‘Honey’ by LAY, etc.

What is the Best Costume Special Prize?

We noticed how dedicated KPOP dancers are to not only master their dance moves but also put an immense effort into creating stunning costumes for their performances, that’s why we made a “Best Costume Prize”. All participants who showcase a costume resembling or replicating the attire of their chosen idol during their performances can win the prize. 

Do I need a costume to perform?

No, you can perform in any clothing that is comfortable for you.

Will there be a special discount for KPOP participants?

Yes, we are offering special discount tickets that will be provided to all participants who will successfully pass the selection process. 

Can i participate in KPOP competition and Cosplay competition 

Please note that you can choose only one of the two main competitions—either KPOP or Cosplay. If you choose KPOP, you are still allowed to participate in the “Short Video” and “Photo cosplay” competitions. Cosplay main competition participants are still allowed to participate in the “KPOP in Public” online competition. Kindly choose according to your priorities.

Can I perform in a cosplay?

Yes, you can! Feel free to perform in any costume or cosplay of your choice.

How many times can I participate in KPOP in Public competition? 

You can participate in the KPOP in Public Online Dance competition multiple times. Just make sure that each video showcases a different lineup of team members as it is stated in rules. There are no restrictions on how often groups can perform, as we support collaboration among different groups and dancers. To maintain fairness in the competition, though, we cannot accept multiple submissions that have exactly the same team compositions.

Can we use edits such as zoom and color correction in KPOP in Public videos? 

Yes, you can. Just make sure these edits do not disrupt the dance, allowing KPOP in Public judges to evaluate the dance correctly.

Artists & Crafters Alley Questions

Is there any fee for the sellers?

Aside from the initial fee for the tickets J-TSOON does not ask for additional fees from Artists and Crafters. 

Table size

Our event provided tables that are 152cm X 76cm ( Please be advised that we kindly request our Artists and Crafters to have a table cover when setting up their shop.)

About AI

J-TSOON has strict policies for no AI art inside the Artists and Crafters Alley  as well as throughout the event itself. We try our best to go look carefully through all submissions and examples of works to make sure there is no AI involved.

Is it necessary to have a pre-existing store or prior experience in tabling at events before signing up for J-TSOON?

Not at all. The J-TSOON team is happy to welcome artists and crafters of any level of experience. The main thing we look out for is the quality and variety of products we offer to our visitors. So if you want to give Artists and Crafters alley a try for the first time, J-TSOON is ready to welcome you with open arms!

Can I leave my helper at the table alone? 

Yes, of-course! As long as the helper has the badge they receive during the table registration process there is no issue for them to stay alone behind the table.

Can I setup my table on Friday (day before J-TSOON)

Yes! Our team provides a day and time for the pre-registration for the event for our Artists and Crafters to set up their tables in advance!

Flea Market Questions

Would there be a limit for the amount of tables per Flea Market participant?

Each participant of the Flea market is provided with only one table per submitted application.

Can seller leaves their tables as is in-between days?

Sellers can leave their items after the close of the first day (also at night from FRI to SAT if you will set up your table from Fridays), but organizers and venue authorities are not responsible for the safety of your belongings. 

What types of items are not allowed to be sold by the Flea Market?

Any type of offensive content is forbidden to be displayed or sold at the event. Sellers are also forbidden to sell any type of food or drink products (aka perishables).

Our event is strongly against AI generated works  as well as stolen artworks from other artists, so it is also forbidden to have any items that were not ethically sourced.

What should sellers do if they want to sell mature content ?

If you wish to sell mature (18+) contents, the seller will have to cover or mask the items or the item needs to be pixelated in some way. As by the event rules, it is not  allowed to openly display NSFW content.

What if seller wants to leave the table unattended during the event?

If the seller wished to leave the table and they do not have an assistant they have an option to ask the Alley managers to look after your table. Otherwise the event does not guarantee the safety of your items.

If any of the rules for Flea Market are violated, what are the consequences for the sellers?

The organizers have the right to ask you to leave the event and as the result of rules violations you may not be able to participate in the next event.
