Cosplay
Welcome to the Cosplay in J-TSOON!
Cosplay brings characters from anime, manga, video games, and wider geek culture to life, and every costume shows how much its maker loves that character. It began in Japan in the mid-20th century and has since grown into a worldwide community of makers, performers, and fans.
J-TSOON is where that community comes together. It’s a place to show what you’ve made, see what others have created, and meet people who love cosplay as much as you do. Our program includes activities and masterclasses on costume-making, makeup, props, accessories, and more, so you’ll leave with new skills and new ideas for your next project.
The program is for everyone, whether you’re making your first costume or have been cosplaying for years. Above all, we want every cosplayer to feel welcome at J-TSOON. We can’t wait to see what you bring!
The highlight of our main program is the long-running Cosplay Contest, where more than 100 cosplayers compete for prizes in categories such as Craftsmanship, Performance, and Debut.
We also have:
Cosplay Photography Contest
The contest is open to both models and photographers. Submit photos that highlight the costume, makeup, character, or mood of the shot. Entries are judged on the whole picture: posing, lighting, composition, editing, and how well the model brings the character to life. The best entries will be displayed at the festival, and winners will be chosen by both a jury and a visitor vote.
Cosplay Short Video Contest
Make a short video featuring your favourite character in any format you like: dance videos, dramatic scenes, skits, lip-syncs, and more.
Cosplay Masquerade
A relaxed Sunday event for beginners and anyone who just wants to have fun on stage. Show off your costume, strike a few poses, and enjoy your 15 seconds in the spotlight. Sign up with friends or on your own. The rules are simple.
