MAGIC WAND TOURNAMENT
What is the Magic Wand Tournament?
The Magic Wand Tournament is an exciting event where participants compete in magical duels using their wands. The tournament is designed for all Harry Potter and Wizarding World fans, regardless of age. Competition is based on the combat system from the LARP games of the School of Magic from EDULARP to create a highly engaging and exciting experience.
Tournament Overview:
- Participants are paired up and compete against each other in designated spellcasting arena
- Duelists cast various attack and defense spells.
- Judges check/control/evaluate how accurate and correct the spellcasting is, and if the duel rules and etiquette are followed.
- Anyone can register to participate.
What do I need to participate in the tournament?
- Learn the pairs of attack and defense spells:
- Participating in the tournament requires knowledge of the list of pairs of attack and defense spells.
- The tournament is essentially a test of this knowledge and your ability to stay calm and focused in a duel.

- Have a magic wand:
- Participants are required to have a magic wand for duels.
- You have to in advance borrow, buy or craft magic wand.
- Attend the Burning Pumpkin Fest in Tallinn:
- The tournament is held as part of the Burning Pumpkin Fest (02.-03. NOVEMBER, 2024, Kultuurikatel, Tallinn).
- Participants must arrive at the festival venue to participate in the tournament.
Magic Wand Tournament Rules
General Rules and Regulations
- Compliance with Regulations: Every wizard is required to follow the tournament regulations and comply with the code of wizarding honor.
- Tournament Table: The pairing and the compilation of the tournament table will take place before the tournament.
Duel Judging
- Team of Judges: The duel is judged by three judges: two Side judges and Master judge.
- Side Judges: Track and record magical hits.
- Master Judge: Hosts tournament event and makes final decisions.
Spellcasting Arena
- Duels are held in the Spellcasting Arena consisting of Spell Mats and a dueling area between them.
- Spell Mats: The spellcasting arena has two spell mats – one white and one black.
Duel Process
- Master Judge announces wizard pair and their place on Spellcasting Arena
- Wizards take dueling positions on Spell Mats, draw wizard wands and wait for Master Judge command.
- Wizard duel is started by a wizard on white Spell Mat.
- After each magical hit, the Master Judge stops the duel, checks readiness and restarts the duel.
Spells and Magical Hits
- The duel continues until one duelist has received two magical hits.
- If a wizard does not cast a defense spell within three seconds, a magical hit is caused to the wizard.
- If a wizard casts the wrong defense spell, a hit is caused to the wizard.
- If a wizard casts the wrong attack spell, a hit is caused to the wizard.
- If a wizard severely mispronounces any spell, or does not speak clearly enough, a hit is caused to the wizard.
Attack and Defense Spells
- Iga Attack spell has a corresponding Defense spell.
- Each spell must be spoken loudly and clearly so that the judge can hear them.

- Deluvium – Incendio
- Incarcerous – Diffindo
- Serpensortia – Vipera Evanesca
- Silencio – Surgito
- Obliviate – Surgito
- Arresto Momentum – Salvio Hexia
- Petrificus Totalus – Salvio Hexia
- Bombarda – Salvio Hexia
Etiquette Rules
- Respect – each Wizard should respect the opponent and the Team of Judges.
- Start of the duel – wizards should bow to each other before duel.
- First Attack spell – each duel should start with “Expelliarmus” attack spell
- Disputed Situations – in disputed situations, the Master Judge may rule in favor of the wizard who best complies to Etiquette Rules.
- Roleplay – wizard may use body movement and articulation to roleplay his wizard.
- Clothing – wizards should always duel in robes, cloaks or similar clothes.
